Our Coronavirus Response Plan

Bolts & Bytes families,

We are looking forward to another amazing season of fun and engaging programs -- however the health and safety of our students, their families and our staff are our top priority in these challenging times.

We have taken many steps to ensure the safety of everyone at Bolts & Bytes and help slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.  As our community begins to open up, please know that we are closely monitoring guidance from the CDC and state health agencies.

Here’s what action we are taking:

  • Masks are recommended, but not required for participants & visitors. We are following the guidance of the health professionals for Duval County Public Schools and St. Johns County Public Schools and are mirroring their policies for face masks : As of Nov 1, 2021, Duval County Public Schools is allowing parents to opt their children out of wearing masks or face coverings. We are following that guidance: face masks and coverings are recommended, but not required for our programs.

  • All programs are limited to no more than 10 students.

  • Our entire facility receives a weekly professional cleaning that includes sanitation of floors, work surfaces, seats, doorknobs and frequently touched surfaces.

  • We routinely sanitize all workspaces, materials and tools -- including in between activities, before morning sessions, in between morning and afternoon sessions and after our final session of the day.

  • All students and staff have their temperature checked as they enter the premises. Anyone with an above-normal temperature will not be allowed entry. (We have not had to deny entry to any students or staff to date.)

  • Everyone entering must use hand sanitizer.

  • We coach our students on how to keep themselves and other students safe -- including proper use of hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes.

  • Hand sanitizer is available in multiple locations in every room and we make use of it frequently - including before and after handling materials and tools.

  • We have modified activities and our space to encourage social distancing and discourage the use of shared materials and tools between students wherever possible.

  • New arrival and departure routines to minimize contact between family groups.

  • We have updated our cancellation policy to make it easier for families to make decisions that are right for them without undue penalty.  We are waiving any cancellation fees or penalties for any family that decides that a class is not right for them at this time. All we ask in return is that you please give us as much notice as possible so that we can try to fill the spot.

  • If we are required to cancel any program due to health concerns, any unused tuition or deposit paid will be returned.

Please know that we are doing everything within our power to make sure everyone at Bolts & Bytes Maker Academy remains safe, healthy and happy.
